Before you go boating you should complete a float plan. Leave the plan with a person who can be depended upon to follow the Boating Emergency Guide (which is part of the float plan document). Be sure to inform them of any changes to your plan. This person will need to notify the Coast Guard or other rescue organization if you do not return or check-in as scheduled.
